The hard work is now behind you. It's time to ship the bird to your favorite taxidermist. This part is pretty routine, so let's go:

  • Properly wrapped birds may be simply placed into a box and filled with newspaper or styrofoam peanuts packed tightly around the package.

  • Place the packaged bird in the center of the box to get the most insulation out of the packing material.

  • Enclose your personal information and information on the specimen.

  • Seal the box, address it and put the entire package back into the freezer for a day, so as to freeze the entire contents.

  • Call your taxidermist and ship the box "next day air" by an express parcel service so that your shipment arrives promptly. Take care; on "next day" freight, shippers charge by dimension as well as weight, therefore keep the box size to a minimum.
